This area is very steep and rugged terrain, with significant tree mortality as a result of the 1999-2004 drought and bark beetle infestation.
Firefighters worked through the night, continuing to construct fireline around the fire’s perimeter. The perimeter was completed on the west side of the fire and the southern and west sides of the fire were maintained. The east and northeast sides of the fire will be the areas of concentrated efforts during today’s operational period.
