The Hathaway Fire started on June 9th at approximately 1157A.M. on the northern portion of the Morongo Indian Reservation. The fire burned north into the San Gorgonio Wilderness on the San Bernardino National Forest. This area is very steep and rugged terrain, with significant tree mortality as a result of the 1999-2004 drought and bark beetle infestation.
During the night firefighters made good progress building direct fire line, working from remote spike camps. Firefighters will continue to work throughout the day to construct additional fire line. Air assets will continue to assist firefighters as needed on the ground.

There are no road closures or evacuations in the fire area
Wind speeds today will be 25mph from the West. Temperature 87. Humidity 15%. High pressure will begin to rebuild in the area today, bringing warmer temperatures to the area.
