Vallecito Fire Update Nov 7,2012

Incident: Vallecito Wildfire
Released: 11/7/2012

Vallecito Fire Update

November 7, 2012, 5 p.m.

The Vallecito Fire is stubbornly burning additional acreage due to unseasonal low humidity and cured dead and down ground fuels within the perimeter of the 2002 Missionary Ridge Fire.

Firefighters assisted by a dozer and a medium duty helicopter have continued to attempt to corral the SW flank that is slowly burning in optimal topographic and weather conditions.

Three quarters mile of new line was constructed by the dozer today.

There is still no threat to any private property or nearby communities.

Fire fighters and Forest Officials are hopeful that a predicted winter storm will assist with fire suppression efforts.
