Fern Lake Closure

Fern Lake Fire Closure Update

Incident: Fern Lake Wildfire
Released: 11/20/2012

All trail closures have been lifted at this time but an area closure remains in effect that includes Forest Canyon, north and west of the Fern Lake Trail, and south of the Ute Trail.

Due to persistent dry conditions and winds, the Fern Lake Fire continues to burn in the bottom of Forest Canyon.

Park visitors hiking in the area should be aware that the fire continues to smolder and that the sight and smell of smoke may persist. Any significant changes that might indicate increased fire activity should prompt hikers to leave the area and report observations to park officials.
