8:45 AM

Firefighters on the Karney Fire will continue to mop-up remaining hotspots today.

Crews will also work on fireline repair and take actions to prevent erosion in steep areas where fireline has been constructed. Fire personnel will begin to backhaul equipment from the fire area such as pumps and hose that are no longer needed.

The fire is 440 acres and 80 percent contained. There are 314 fire personnel working on the fire this morning.

Fire managers have started to downsize the organization working on the fire. Current assigned personnel and equipment include 5 hand crews, 6 engines, 2 water tenders and 2 helicopters.

The Idaho Department of Lands is planning to assume command of the fire Sunday morning and the Incident Management Team will begin to demob at that point.
