Karney Fire News Release

Update - 9/19 at 8:30 Am

Incident: Karney Fire Wildfire
Released: 9/19/2012

Update - Sept. 19, 2012

8:30 a.m.

Fire crews made good progress with burnouts on the Karney Fire last night. The fire is mostly holding at perimeters established around the fire late Tuesday.

There was some minor growth in the size of the fire because of the successful burnouts. The fire spotted a little along Wilderness Ranch Road so the priority this morning is to contain the fire along the road, but fire managers are optimistic they will be able to contain those spots as more fire crews begin work this morning.

The estimated containment this morning is back in the 10 percent range.

About 20 firefighters worked on the fire overnight. Starting early this morning, even more ground resources and personnel will be used throughout Wednesday, including additional hand crews and engines.
