Wildcat Fire Update

The Wildcat Fire is burning approximately 15 miles south of Newcastle, WY. The fire started in Black Hills National Forest in South Dakota and has burned a crossed the state line into Wyoming. It is estimated to be 75 acres and 10% contained. The cause is under investigation. A Type III Organization lead by Incident Commander Todd Hoover is in place. Firefighters had a successful day of fireline construction and securing the fireline perimeter. Resources on scene include state (both Wyoming and South Dakota), local, and volunteer fire departments, as well as Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management. In there are 124 resources on scene. Fire information can be reached at 307-746-8311. Tomorrow, 09/13/2012 there will only be an afternoon release unless something significant happens overnight.
