Today fire crews completed construction of containment lines around the fire perimeter. The fire is 100% contained, and now the crews will work on gaining full control of the fire. The difference between contained and control on a wildland fire is defined as:
Containment: The status of a wildfire suppression action signifying that a control line has been completed around the fire, and any associated spot fires, which can reasonably be expected to stop the fire's spread.
Control: The completion of control line around a fire, any spot fires therefrom, and any interior islands to be saved; burned out any unburned area adjacent to the fire side of the control lines; and cool down all hot spots that are immediate threats to the control line, until the lines can reasonably be expected to hold under the foreseeable conditions.
The forecasted weather for tonight over the fire is predicting some strong southeasterly winds as a weather system moves over the Pacific Northwest. Crews will monitor the winds and its influence on the fire behavior to the fire remains within its containment lines.
Public Safety: Smoke from the fire may be visible from Interstate 5 and local communities. Please use caution when driving along Interstate 5 in the fire area.
