Today crews made significant progress in constructing and improving containment lines on the Ward Fire. The fire is burning in primarily private lands some have which have been logged in recent years. Steep drainages and heavy fuels are still a concern for reburn potential. Suppression resources will continue building control lines and mopping up during tonight's shift. The South Central Sierra Type 2 Interagency Incident Management Team has assumed command of the suppression efforts on the Ward Fire at 6 PM this evening. The Incident Management Team is still managing the Bagley Fire as well.

Fire Behavior: The southeast area of the fire perimeter continues to hold heat but is generally backing down hill through duff with a slow to moderate rate of spread.

Public Safety: Smoke from the fire may be visible from Interstate 5 and local communities. Please use caution when driving along Interstate 5 in the fire area.
