Smoky Conditions Likely on Interstate 5

Caltrans District 2 would like to advise motorists that smoky conditions are expected over the next 24 hours due to the Ward Fire on the Shasta-Trinity National Forest. District 2 currently has two Changeable Message Signs along Interstate 5 advising motorists to be prepared to reduce speed due to smoke. These sign advisories are on both northbound and southbound directions prior to the fire area near Castella. For traveling motorists safety, please refrain from stopping along I-5 to take pictures or watch fire suppression efforts.
