Como Fire Announcement

Last Update From Sierra Front Team for The Como Fire, 9/12/12 5:00p.m.

Dayton, Nevada, September 12, 2012, 5:00p.m. - Ignited by lightning, the Como Fire located between Mason Valley and Dayton, Nevada, is on Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Carson City District land, approximately 2.5 miles south of Rawe Peak. It is estimated at 768 acres.

The fire started at around 12 p.m. on Sunday, September 09, 2012. There are no structures threatened at this time and there has been one firefighter minor eye injury reported.

The fire is 100% contained. As the Sierra Front Type III team and crews, led by Incident Commander, Paul Washam, work on mop up and rehab around the fire perimeter, equipment and crews will begin to be released and become available for other incidents.

The Sierra Front Type III Team will transition the incident back over to BLM, Carson City District effective Thursday, September 13th at 3:30p.m.
