Pole Creek Fire Update

Fire acreage increased to 4300 acres

SISTERS - Approximately 300 firefighters were engaged in managing the Pole Creek fire today. Winds have increased fire acreage to 4,300 acres.

Most of the heavy burning in the fire is occurring in the wilderness with lighter underburning occurring in lower portions of the fire.

A community meeting will be held tonight at 6 p.m. at the Sisters Elementary School, 611 Cascade Ave, in Sisters. Fire camp will move to the Sisters Fairgrounds tomorrow.

The Sheriff's Department has created an information line for the public, 541-550-4886. For media inquiries, please contact Central Oregon Dispatch's media desk, 541-416-6811.

A Type 2 team is taking over management of the fire at 8 p.m. today. When a fire information line and information center is established for the fire, the public and media will be informed.
