Firefighters Battle Pole Creek Fire

Central Oregon - Everyone has been evacuated within the closure area of the Pole Creek Fire. This includes Forest Service roads 15, 16, including the Three Creeks Campground area, 1018, and Hwy 242 has been closed at mile posts 88 and 55. Four vehicles in the fire area have been destroyed and several others have sustained damage. Deschutes County Sheriff's Office will be following up with the owners.

Crossroads area outside of Sisters, OR including the Edgington Remuda area have been given a Precautionary Pre-Evacuation Notification. This is just a notice to be prepared. It is not an evacuation at this time. For more information on the status of evacuations please call 541-550-4886 for the most up to date information.

The Pole Creek fire started in the Three Sisters Wilderness near the Pole Creek Trailhead and was reported around 10:45 this morning. The fire has grown to approximately 1500 acres and the cause is unknown at this time. A red flag warning has been issued for Monday for the Central Oregon area. A cold front is expected on Monday to bring gusts of wind up to 40 miles per hour and will be followed by warmer and dryer weather. A Type III incident management team was on the fire by this afternoon and will work through the night constructing fireline and possible burnouts. A Type II incident management team has been ordered and will transition tomorrow. Resources on scene include air resources, dozers, handcrews and engines with additional resources ordered.
