WESLEY FIRE UPDATE

The Incident Command Post (ICP) was moved from the Council Fair Grounds to Tamarack, accommodating a larger number of personnel. This location, along Highway 95, six miles west of New Meadows, Idaho, is centrally located for fire resources to access the fire line.

Yesterday fire activity continued on the southwest portion of the fire into Cold Spring Creek and on the west side into the head waters of Wesley Creek. The fire is slowly moving towards the west on the upper portion of the Rapid Wild and Scenic River corridor. The fire held in the north and northeast portion of the fire, above North Star Butte and down to Ant Butte. Firefighters are mopping up and putting out spot fires.

Winds are projected to be from the northwest today with possible fire growth in the headwaters of the Rapid River drainage and south and west on Bear and Wesley Creeks. The fire is burning in timber, litter and understory fuels. Firefighters are holding the eastern portion of the fire, to Forest Road 079, west of Highway 95. Fire crews are utilizing the road to hold and reduce the spread of fire.

Weather forecast for today includes north to northwest winds of 4-10 mph, with gusts to 15 mph. Temperatures of 70-82 degrees and relative humidity of 10-15% in the fire area.

An area closure remains in effect. Maps are posted at information boards, local businesses and post offices.
