Evacuation Advisory Area Reduced
Incident: Horsethief Canyon Wildfire
Released: 9/12/2012
Based on a careful analysis of current fire conditions and conferences between local emergency responders and the Type II Incident Management Team, Fire Chief Willy Watsabaugh has authorized a reduction in the size of the current Evacuation Advisory area in east Jackson.
The current Evacuation Advisory area boundary is now south of E Broadway, to east of Rancher St, to south of Cache Creek Dr, to west of Redmond St, to south of E Kelly Ave, to east of Vine St. Please see posted map for more details.
Everyone is reminded that Game Creek, Cache Creek, and Snow King mountain trails are still closed to use in order to allow for access of emergency apparatus.
Those that are still in an Evacuation Advisory area should continue to take the preparation steps that have been outlined in previous updates until that Advisory is lifted.
Your local emergency services and our Type II Incident Management Team would like to thank everyone in the community for your continued patience, understanding, and preparatory actions.
Emergency Preparedness Information is available at www.tetonwyo.org/em.
A reminder that the Evacuation Advisory means that residents within the Advisory area should prepare for possible evacuation (THIS IS NOT A CHANGE FROM PREVIOUS UPDATES!). Steps residents should take in the evacuation area is to have an emergency "go" kit ready with emergency supplies, important paperwork, photographs, laptop computer, etc. ready to go should an evacuation be ordered. You should also have a plan for evacuating your pets and livestock and arrange for a place for them to stay should you need to evacuate. You should also have a communication plan for your family if an evacuation occurs while you are separated. Visit www.tetonwyo.org/em for additional evacuation tips.
