Sheep Fire Announcement

Fire Activity Update at 11:50 a.m. Sunday Sept 9:

Sheep Fire is established in the northeast of John Day drainage presently along sections 32 to 21 moving north and northeast. The fire activity has bumped along Forest Road 441 and has crossed over the Forest Boundary continuing to move north (Section 15).

Preliminary notifications are occurring in the Slate Creek drainage. Residents are being notified of current fire activity at 11:50 a.m., status and possible evacuations in the Slate Creek drainage based on future fire behavior. Forest personnel are conducting preliminary notifications for Slate Creek residents door to door.

Lead plane and tankers are working implementing point to point structure protection in the John Day Drainage.
