Stafford Fire Update - September 11, 8:30 Pm

Incident: Stafford Wildfire
Released: 9/11/2012

September 11, 2012

8:00 p.m.

Current Situation:

Evacuations and road closures were lifted and no restrictions are in place as of 6:00 p.m. tonight for the areas of Barker Creek west to Big Creek Road, which involves Barker Creek Road, Meadow Lane, Barker Valley area, Duncan Road up to and including Duncan Creek Lane, Morgan Hill and Wild Things area and Wildwood Road. Because of heavy equipment and fire traffic, non-residents should not go into these areas.

Today crews made good progress with mop up and have initiated suppression repair of fire control lines. Fire is expected to stay within the containment lines, but will continue to consume some interior islands.

Power lines have been reenergized to the residences on Wildwood Road and in the Wild Things area. Power has not been completely restored past the residences due to snags that must be felled before lines can be reenergized.

The fire is being managed under Unified Command. Northern California Interagency Incident Management Team 1 (Nor Cal 1) along with an IC and support staff from the Shasta Trinity Unit of Cal Fire has been delegated responsibility for suppression of this fire.

The Red Cross evacuation center has closed. Travelers are advised to take extra care while driving on Hwy 3 due to fire equipment traffic.
