Sawtooth Fire Announcement

Critical Fire Weather

Incident: Sawtooth Fire Wildfire
Released: 9/13/2012

The National Weather Service in Missoula is predicting very dry conditions for Friday, conducive to a tremendous potential for fire growth. Relative humidities in the single digits will set season-low overnight humidity recovery rates. Northwest winds are predicted to change to west/southwest overnight and Friday morning, and will be 10-15 miles per hour higher than today. There is concern regarding plume development, with the result that the fire could generate it's own wind environment, with windy, dry, and unstable conditions.

There is a possibility for a wind shift to the northwest on Sunday, with cooler temperatures.
