Red Flag Warning Issued for Sunday 9-9-12

The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for our area beginning on Sunday 9-9-12 from Noon until 9 pm. The weather phenomenon of high winds and low humidity across the Bitterroot.

Winds: Southwest 15-25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph Sunday afternoon and early evening.

Minimum humidity:15-25 per cent Sunday afternoon and early evening.

Thunderstorms: Isolated to widely scattered coverage. Gusty outflow winds. Rainfall confined to directly under the storm cores.

Timing: Southwest winds will be increasing by Sunday afternoon Peaking during the late afternoon coinciding with lowest humidity. Conditions will be improving Sunday evening after nightfall.

We are taking operational steps with our fire forces here on the Sawtooth fire to ensure firefighter and public safety concerns are addressed with this RED FLAG WARNING issuance.
