POWELL SBW FIRE COMPLEX

Thursday October 18, 2012

Nez Perce - Clearwater National Forests

Date Started: 7/20/2012

Cause: Multiple Lightning Strikes

Size: 67,000 acres

The Powell SBW complex has transitioned command of the fire back to the Powell Ranger district.

Due to much needed rain and cooler temperatures, MOST of the area, trail, and road closures have been lifted. However, the following remain closed due to the threat to public safety.

· The Beaver Ridge Road (FS road 369) to Beaver Ridge Lookout, the road is closed at the 368 and 369 intersection.

· Colt Creek Road (FS road 359) in its entirety.

Trail users please be aware in recently burned areas, hazards persist including falling trees, rolling logs and rocks, and holes from burned out stumps. Consider these hazards when entering the area make appropriate safety considerations, which may include changing your travel plans.
