Cause: Multiple Lightning Strikes Size: 55,622 acres

Resources: 1 Type 1 Helicopter, 4 Engines, and 2 Water Tenders. Injuries to Date: 2

Location: The complex consists of three main and numerous small fires situated in an arc running southeast to southwest of the town of Powell, Idaho, straddling the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness boundary. The three main fires are named from east to west as: Fern, Cedar and Freeze Out/Queen.

Recent Activities: Fire activity increased slightly due to the smoke ventilating out of the river corridor, increased temperatures, and lower relative humidity. Group torching and small runs up to 1/10 of an acre were observed. Ground forces continued patrols along the Beaver Ridge containment line and along Highway 12/Lochsa River corridor, to make sure no spots jumped the highway. A small squad continues to protect the Fish Lake airstrip area. Water pumps and sprinkler systems continue to be used to protect remote backcountry bridges.

Today's Activities: Today's activities and fire weather will be similar to yesterday's. Ground forces will continue to patrol Beaver Ridge lookout area, the Elk Summit recreation area, the Highway 12 corridor, along with the Fish Lake airstrip area.

Remarks: Reminder to forest visitors, even though temperatures are cooling off at night, the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests are still under Stage 1 fire restrictions.

Under State 1 Fire Restrictions, the following acts are prohibited.

· Building, maintaining, attending or using a fire, campfire, stove fire except within a designated campground.

· Smoking, except within an enclosed vehicle, building or designated recreation site, or while stopped in an area at least three feet in diameter that is barren or cleared of all flammable materials
