Pine Creek Fire Operations Moving to Loch Leven Fishing Access Site

Incident: Pine Creek Fire Wildfire
Released: 9/8/2012

Livingston, MT - Management of the Pine Creek Fire, located on the east side of Paradise Valley south of Livingston, Montana, is set to transition from Poncin's Type 1 Northern Rockies Incident Management Team back to a local Type 3 incident management organization on Sunday, September 9.

In conjunction with the transition, fire camp will be relocated. Thanks to Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks, as of Sunday fire operations will be based out of the Loch Leven Fishing Access Site on the Yellowstone River off of East River Road south of Livingston.

In order to provide for safe firefighting operations, the U.S. Forest Service has requested that Loch Leven Fishing Access Site be temporarily closed to the public while it is being utilized to support personnel on the Pine Creek Fire. Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks will notify the public when this site reopens for public use.

Those interested in viewing fire operations are encouraged to use the Mallard's Rest Fishing Access Site along US Highway 89.

Visitors and area residents are asked to avoid stopping along East River Road, and to be alert for both increased fire traffic and school buses while traveling on East River Road through the Paradise Valley.
