PERSONNEL & RESOURCES: 695 personnel, including 12 crews; 42 engines; 5 dozers; 16 water tenders; and 4 helicopters.
SITUATION:
As of 6:00 this morning, Dixie residents can travel on Dixie Road to and from their property any time of day without the pilot car escort. US Postal Service mail delivery to Dixie will resume on Monday. Dixie residents, who have been living with nonstop aircraft noise for several days, will have only one helicopter using the heliwell at the Dixie airstrip. Crews are looking for a second water-supply point for the other helicopters working in the area. Yesterday, with helicopter assistance, crews removed hose, pumps, and sprinklers from Mallard Creek Ranch since the area is well protected and not close to the fire. Today crews will remove gear from the Whitewater area and return it to the base camp for cleaning and packaging in preparation for next season's use.
Today and Monday the unseasonably warm and dry weather will continue; however, the westerly winds will generally be light, which will moderate fire behavior. Winds will increase and temperatures will drop and a hard freeze is possible midweek. The change in weather, along with shorter days, means that fire behavior and spread will be low and the air will be less smoky.
The most active areas of the fire are on the west side, where the fire remains east of Lake Creek, and on the southeast side, where the fire remains east of Rhett Creek. The Herman Fire, in the Gospel Hump Wilderness, is contained within itself but still has scattered unburned pockets that continue to burn and create smoke that Dixie and Comstock residents might be able to see.

EVACUATIONS: Concord, Dixie, Comstock, Mallard Creek Ranch, and Cook Ranch remain under a Stage 3 evacuation. Orogrande, Red River, and Red River Hot Springs remain in a Stage 2 evacuation warning. Elk City remains under a Stage 1 evacuation alert.
