Released: 9/27/2012

Afternoon Pilot Vehicle Escort Added For Dixie

A twice daily opportunity for travel into and out of the fire closed areas and roads in Dixie is now available for residents only.

Ingress to Dixie: A pilot vehicle will escort only residents into Dixie both in the morning and afternoon. In the morning, residents wishing to enter Dixie must be at the road block on Road 222 at Trapper Creek before 8 am. In the afternoon, residents must be at the road block before 5 pm.

Egress from Dixie: A pilot car will escort only residents out of Dixie both in the morning and afternoon. In the morning, residents wishing to egress from Dixie must be at the bridge on Road 222 before 9 am. In the afternoon, residents must be at the bridge before 6 pm.

Based on current fire activity and condition of the roadway, the fire operations Branch Chief will give approval for the pilot vehicle to escort residents into and out of Dixie. Residents must realize a potential for nonapproval may occur and the escort will not be provided. Residents must be prepared to spend several days in or away from Dixie if fire activity and roadway conditions prevent them from being escorted into and out of Dixie.
