McGuire Fire Complex
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, September 17, 2012; 10:00 a.m.
STAGE 3 EVACUATION ORDER ISSUED FOR CONCORD AREA. TEMPORARY CLOSURE AND DELAYS EXPECTED FOR CROOKED RIVER ROAD (#233)
Incident: The fire complex consists of the McGuire, Bagely and Herman wildland fires, which were all started by lightning on 8/27.
Location: 2 miles west of Dixie, ID.
Agency Jurisdiction: USDA Forest Service, Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests
Cooperating Agencies: Idaho County Sheriff's Department
Incident Commander: Carlton Joseph, California Interagency Incident Management Team 5. The Incident Command Post (ICP) is located at the old Red River Ranger Station, with fire camp located in the York field at Red River.
Due to current fire activity on the northwestern flank of the fire, a Stage 3 Evacuation for Concord has been issued by the Sherriff's Department. Residents are asked to evacuate immediately. As the fire backs to the northwest toward the West Fork of the Crooked River about 2 miles southwest of Orogrande, the Crooked River Road (#233) will be impacted by active fire and falling snags and rocks. The Crooked River Road has been and remains closed at the junction of Highway 14. With the expected impacts to the road, anyone staying in Concord may not be able to leave for two to five days.
