Current Status

The Parish Cabin Fire is located 15 miles northeast of Seneca, OR, near the intersection of Forest Roads 15 and 16

Today's operations will consist of firefighters patrolling control lines, felling hazard trees, and mopping up to meet incident objectives.

The Malheur National Forest is in the process of adjusting the area closure so that it will have less of an impact to those travelling in the forest. Forest Service Roads 15 and 16 are now open for travel. Visitors at this time will not be allowed to travel on secondary roads near the fire activity. The closure has been in effect to provide for firefighter and public safety during suppression efforts.

A transfer of command will take place at 7:00 a.m. on Friday September 7, with the local Type 3 Team. The local team of resources will oversee the management of the Parish Cabin Fire through the duration of the incident.

Oregon Interagency Incident Management Team 4 would like to thank the local communities and the Malheur National Forest for their support of during firefighter's efforts in suppressing the fire and providing for protection of life, property, critical resources, and habitat.

Visitors are reminded that the Malheur National Forest is at an Industrial Fire Precaution Level 4, which means that firewood cutting is not allowed; also Personal Use Restrictions are in effect and campfires are only permitted in designated recreation areas.
