NOTICE -Hyalite Reservoir Re-opened for Watercraft Use

Bozeman, MT... Fire managers have declared the Millie Fire 85 percent contained and holding at 10,515 acres. They have determined that the large helicopter which was using the reservoir for a water supply is no longer needed and have released it from the incident.

Because helicopters will no longer be utilizing the reservoir for a water supply, the threat to the public has diminished and the temporary closure rescinded. "I am very pleased to announce the re-opening and appreciate the patience shown by residents, guests and visitors during this period" said Bozeman District Ranger, Lisa Stoeffler. She continued, "Because of the dedicated and arduous work being performed by the firefighting cadre, we hope to be able to announce additional openings later this week".

Yesterday firefighters were able to extend containment lines and to continue to hold, improve and mop-up along existing lines. The back haul of hoses, support equipment and supplies will continue today in anticipation of downsizing fire fighting forces in the next few days.

Of special note, smoke will continue to linger in the lower elevations for some time to come. However most, if not all of this smoke is from other fires in Montana and Idaho.
