Firefighters Reach 10 Percent Containment on The Millie Fire

Incident: Millie Fire Wildfire
Released: 9/2/2012

Bozeman, MT - Crews continued their hard work constructing and reinforcing fireline on the 10,186-acre Millie Fire and reached 10 percent containment today. Fire managers reported the containment is on the southwest side of the fire near Blanchard Ranch.

Operations today included air tankers dropping retardant and helicopters dropping water on the north side of the fire to help slow fire progression in the Cottonwood Canyon. In addition, resources completed clearing and chipping brush and vegetation along the Hyalite Road.

This afternoon the Incident Meteorologist told crews that drier and warmer weather is in the forecast for the next four to five days. Fire personnel should prepare for a potential increase in fire activity given this forecast.

As of this evening there are 2 Type 1 hand crews, 7 Type 2 hand crews, 21 engines, 13 dozers and 4 helicopters for a total of 412 personnel assigned.
