NORTH PASS FIRE INFORMATION
(707) 983-6318
Sunday, September 9, 2012
Covelo, CA - The North Pass Fire remains at 41,983 acres. Containment is steadily increasing and is now at 89%.
Crews continue to improve fire line. The main effort, however, has shifted to mop up, fire suppression repair and roadside chipping. Crews continue to cut down snags and remove fallen trees along M1, M2, M4, FH-7 and Blands Cove Rd. Dirt roads used for access or contingency lines are being re-graded. Please note that roadside chipping operations involve heavy equipment and may block the forest roads, which are closed for this reason. Please help firefighters finish this fire by staying off the roads in the fire area.
Smoke from two fires south of Covelo has been moving north and impacting air quality in communities around the North Pass fire.
Management of the North Pass fire is transitioning to a smaller management team on Tuesday at 6AM. The Base Camp and the Incident Command Post (ICP) will be co-located at the Round Valley Airport.
