FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
10/30/2012
Redding, Calif.- Fire officials would like to update visitors and recreationists such as Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) users, hunters, and campers about road and area closures in the vicinity of the Bagley Fire which is located west of Big Bend, CA and south of the McCloud Reservoir on the Shasta-Trinity National Forest and private land.
Effective October 30, 2012, Forest Order No 14-12-02, authorizing the Bagley Fire Emergency Closure Area, will be lifted. All National Forest Recreation Area sites within the closure area, including Deadlun and Madrone Campgrounds will be reopened. All Forest Service system roads will also be reopened, including Forest Road No. 38N11, Forest Road No. 35N78 (also known as Iron Canyon Reservoir Road), and Forest Service Road 34N17 (also known as Road 27 or Fenders Ferry Road).
Motorists and visitors to the area should be aware of continuing safety concerns. Be advised that downed limbs, rocks, and debris could adversely impact roadways. Motorists are directed to stay on official Forest Service roads and trails. Areas opened up due to fire suppression and repair, such as hand and dozer lines, cannot be disturbed or driven on. Some private roads may still be subject to closures. Please exercise caution when driving on roads where active logging is ongoing.
Areas that are normally covered by woodcutting permits will again become available. Details on where woodcutting is permitted can be obtained through the Shasta Lake Ranger Station. Please contact the Shasta Lake Ranger Station at (530) 275-1587 for more information.
