Over the weekend, the Alpine Lake Fire grew to approximately 2,600 acres by Monday, August 20th. It is estimated that about 1/10 of an inch of moisture fell over the fire area late on Sunday the 19th. We are expecting minor fire growth over the next few days due to the recent moisture and cooler temperatures.

A public meeting concerning the fire has been scheduled for Tuesday, August 21st at 7 PM at Rock Hall in Fort Washakie, Wyoming. Fire managers and a fire weather meteorologist will be on hand to discuss our local fire history, the Wind River Agency's Wildland Fire Management Plan, the present fire situation and a long term assessment for the Alpine Lake Fire.

Visitors to the Wind River Indian Reservation are reminded that the fire restrictions passed on June 29, 2012 and the public use fire area closure from Windy Ridge on into Deadman and Alpine Lake remain in effect.

For current updates on the fire, please visit the Alpine Lake Fire Site on inciweb.org.
