Waterfalls 2 Fire Daily Update

September 7, 2012

Mop up and hose collection continue. Line has been established around the perimeter of the fire with 300 to 500 foot widths. Restoration of some areas has begun.

Trout Lake Road (B-210), Trout Lake and the campgroud have been reopened. The area closure remains to the south of the B-210 Road and west of the P-500 Road. Blading and smothing of the Trout Creek Road will begin Monday, September 10, 2012. Motorists entering the area should be aware and watch for slow moving road maintenance equipment.

The interior of the fire will continue to generate some heat and smoke. Helicoptor bucket drops will be used to control larger smoke producing areas. Due to the current weather pattern, daily inversions will likely continue to cause smoke to remain in the valleys and the community of Warm Springs during the morning hours. For those individuals with upper respiratory complications, you can check hourly air quality conditions in the Warm Springs community by visiting: http://trexwww.ucc.nau.edu/cgi-bin/daily summary.pl cams=1034

Fire fighter safey will remain the highest priority as crews continue the mop up process. Safety concerns are a focal point as operations continue to wind down.
