ORDER NO. 12-05-720

KLAMATH NATIONAL FOREST

EMERGENCY CLOSURE

Pursuant to 16 USC 551 and 36 CFR 26 1.50(b), and to provide for public safety, the following acts are prohibited within the Klamath National Forest. This Order is effective from 4 p.m. on September 14, 2012, until the Fort Complex wildfires are fully suppressed.

1. Being on the National Forest System trails listed below and shown on Exhibit A.

a. Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail (Forest Trail No. 2000) from its intersection with Highway 96, then northeast 18 miles to its intersection with the Tin Cup Trail (Forest Trail No. 961).

b. Boundary National Recreation Trail (Forest Trail No. 5254) from its intersection with the Pacific Crest Trail then west 6 miles to Baileys Cabin.

c. Fort Goff Trail (Forest Trail No. 5250).

d. Portuguese Creek Trail (Forest Trail No. 5252).

2. Being on the National Forest System roads listed below and shown on Exhibit A.

a. Forest Road No. 47N80 (Lily Pad Road).

b. Forest Road No. 18N02 (Bug Creek Road).

Pursuant to 36 CFR 26 1.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this Order:

1. Persons with a permit from the Forest Service specifically authorizing the otherwise prohibited act or omission.

2. Any Federal, State, or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or fire fighting force in the performance of an official duty.

These prohibitions are in addition to the general prohibitions in 36 CFR Part 261, Subpart A.

A violation of these prohibitions is punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 for an individual or $10,000 for an organization, or imprisonment for not more than six months, or both.
