Current Situation: On July 23, thunderstorms produced numerous lightning strikes within Lassen Volcanic National Park. One of the strikes ignited a fire approximately one mile northeast of Paradise Meadow between the Terrace Lake and Paradise Meadows Trails. The fire continues to spread to the north and east and has crossed onto Lassen National Forest at Badger Mountain. NorCal 1 Incident Management Team took command of this fire as of August 7 at 6pm. The fire is actively burning and causing spot fires which are challenging the firefighters. The spot fires near Badger Mountain were aggressively attacked yesterday with air tankers. Firefighters will continue direct and indirect handline construction.

Closures - Lassen National Forest:

Lassen National Forest is developing closure orders for roads and trails in the immediate vicinity of the fire.
