HIGH WIND EVENT FORECASTED, RESIDENTS ENCOURAGED TO PREPARE FOR POSSIBLE EVACUATION
The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning from noon to 9pm on Sunday for portions of Idaho including the Highway 93 corridor in the Gibbonsville and North Fork areas. A level 3 evacuation is possible early Sunday morning due to a forecast for winds in excess of 25 mph on Sunday and Monday. Residents currently in the level 2 evacuation areas from Quartz Creek to North Fork are strongly encouraged to prepare for the possibility of a level 3 evacuation order. The Lemhi County Sheriff will issue an evacuation order if the weather conditions are imminent. If evacuation becomes necessary, residents will be notified as quickly as possible and should leave immediately.
A Red Flag Warning means that a high fire danger exists with increased probability of quickly spreading vegetation fires within 24 hours.
