Area Update:

Snow is covering some sections of Forest Service roads above 8,000 feet. Drivers should use caution when approaching heavy equipment working on the roads.

Closures:

The Browns Creek Trail (#48) remains closed starting at the Middle Fork Boise River going north. The Hot Creek Trail (#47) is open to foot traffic only. The Mountain Home District Ranger will continue with a 25,000 acre area closure due to hazard tree concerns and public safety in the southern portion of the fire (Trinity Lakes Recreation Area).

Burned Area Emergency Response:

Forest crews and contractors are making good progress with emergency rehabilitation for watershed protection and road and trail repairs adjusted for the snow accumulations at higher elevations. Crews are working on road blading through the Lost Man area.

Crews are constructing water bars and cutting downed trees on approximately 57 miles of trails to stabilize erosion. Idaho City Ranger District workers are focusing their efforts on the Browns Creek and Hot Creek trails.

Road work completed and/or in progress includes the following:

Forest Road 129

Forest Road 157

Forest Road 158

Forest Road 172

Forest Road 183

Forest Road 255

Forest Road 290

Centennial Job Corps Center crews constructed around 50 trash (wood debris) racks that will be shipped to Featherville.

Aerial straw mulching planned for nearly 2,000 acres this fall is delayed due to issues that developed during the contracting process. Work will likely finish next spring.
