9-1 Trinity Ridge Fire Update
Incident: Trinity Ridge Fire Wildfire
Released: 9/1/2012
A slight chance for thunderstorms exists over the fire area today. If storms develop, dry lightning and gusty, erratic winds are possible. Little rainfall is expected.
Progress continues on the long-range plan to connect all the containment lines on the southwest perimeter of the fire from Wagontown Creek to East Roaring Creek. Crews are working to build line east from Green Creek Lake to Wagontown Road, and west from Green Creek Lake toward Trinity Mountain Lookout. Crews from the Pine-based Incident Management Team (IMT) will build line along the southwest perimeter and meet up with crews building line in the Sheep Mountain area from the Idaho City-based IMT within the next few days.
Due to the success of fire crews in the Featherville area and the passing of the main fire, five engines that were on-call for structure protection have been released. Aircraft are still being used to further secure this area and support containment efforts of uncontrolled sections.
Work on line construction continues today from Rabbit Creek Summit south to Thorn Creek Butte. Crews have finished containment of a 71-acre spot fire north of the North Fork Boise River.
The evacuation order for residents from Featherville to Paradise remains in effect. The Elmore County Sheriff is currently re-evaluating the order. An Evacuation Center is being operated at the Pine Senior Center by the Salvation Army with support from the Red Cross. Evacuees with a critical need to access their properties should contact the Sheriff's Incident Command Post at 208-590-3845
There is a large closure area around the fire. Details are outlined in the Boise National Forest Trinity Ridge Fire Area Closure Order Number 0402-00-23 signed by Boise and Sawtooth Forest Supervisors on August 29th, 2012.
