8-29 PM Trinity Ridge Fire Update

Incident: Trinity Ridge Fire Wildfire
Released: 8/29/2012

The Trinity Ridge fire continued to be active today in the area between Wagontown and Green Creeks approximately 4 miles southwest of Featherville. No spotting has occurred from the firing operations being performed in the area.

The fire also remains active in the Sheep Mountain area, growing further into Pete and Repeat Creeks. Helicopters used bucket drops to cool the most active fire areas. The fire on this flank is approximately 1.5 miles from the Middle Fork Road. Firefighters focused on improving existing fire lines and preparing for possible burnout operations along the road.

A new fire was reported yesterday evening on the Boise National Forest. The new Zumwalt Fire is located 2 miles east of Highway 21 and 4 miles northwest of Grandjean. It is 15 acres in size and has two crews along with two helicopters working to contain it. Crews are making excellent progress toward full containment.

The Elmore County Sheriff's office has asked that evacuees with a critical need to access their properties contact their Incident Command Post. The decision to allow access will be made on a case-by-case basis. Residents should call 208-590-3845.
