08/06/2012- Daily Fire Update
Incident: Butler Wildfire
Released: 8/6/2012
Crews were able to complete containment lines around the Butler Fire, resulting in 100% containment. Consequently, fire management was returned back to local, Ninemile Ranger District personnel at 8:00 p.m. on 08/05/2012. Rick Kusicko's Type II Incident Management Team is dismantling the Incident Command Post at the Richardson Ranch near I-90 and will be demobilizing today.
Although the fire is now contained, there may still be hot spots in the fire's interior. Two, twenty-person handcrews and supervisors will continue to mop up the fire, as well as grid for spot fires outside the fire perimeter. In addition, they will begin rehabilitating firelines to reduce resource impacts.
Unless significant fire activity resumes this will be the last update for the Butler Fire. Any new announcements or updates will be posted to http://www.inciweb.org/. Road and trail closures may remain in effect until fire suppression activities are complete. For further information regarding the Butler Fire, please phone the Ninemile Ranger District front office 406-626-5201 or the Lolo National Forest Public Affairs Officer, Boyd Hartwig, 406-329-1024.
