TRAIL RESTRICTION ORDER
RAPID CREEK FIRE
Pursuant to Title 36 Code of Federal Regulation 261.50 (b), the following restriction is in effect on the Spotted Bear Ranger District on the Flathead National Forest, Lewis and Clark County, Montana. This temporary restriction is in addition to those enumerated in Subpart A, Part 261, Title 36, Code of Federal Regulations. These restrictions become effective when signed and will remain in effect until rescinded.
36 CFR 261.55 - Forest Development Trails:
It is prohibited to be upon any trail which is closed by Forest Supervisor's Order. (Title 36 CFR 261.55(a)).
The below listed National Forest System Trails located on the Spotted Bear Ranger District is closed to all public travel because of fire danger and the Rapid Creek Fire located in the Bob Marshall Wilderness .
Description of Restricted National Forest Trail
Trail # 139, Rapid Creek Trail - Closed to public use between the junction with Trail #273 in Section 20; T19N, R11W; PMM to the district/forest boundary in Section 19; T19N, R10W; PMM.
Trail # 272, Fiction Creek Trail in- Closed to public use between the junction with Trail # 139 in Section 20, T19N, R11W; PMM to the trail termini in Section 9, T19N, R11W; PMM.
Pursuant to Title 36 CFR 261.50(e), the following are exempt from this restriction:
1. Persons with a permit issued by a forest officer specifically authorizing the otherwise prohibited act or omission.
2. Any Federal, State, or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or fire fighting force in the performance of an official duty.

Violation of these prohibitions is punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 for an individual or $10,000 for an organization, or imprisonment for not more than 6 months, or both (16 USC 551 and 18 USC 3559 and 3571).
A copy of this order shall be posted as prescribed under 36 CFR 261.51.
Note: Additional trails are closed on the Rocky Mountain Ranger District, Lewis and Clark National Forest that connect and provide access into this area. Some of these related to the Rapid Creek Fire are noted on the attached map. There are other trails closed on the Rocky Mountain Ranger District due to additional fires.
