Current Situation: The Myrtle Fire was 100% contained on 7/24/2012 and continues to be under the command of a local Type 3 Team led by Incident Commander Tim Oliverius.

Work continues on the Myrtle fire as fire fighters work with local landowners to rehabilitate fire lines created during suppression operations. In addition, crews will focus on returning roads to pre-fire conditions and mending fences that were cut.

A Burned Area Emergency Response team from the Black Hills National Forest is expected to conclude the field work used in their assessment to determine the post -wildfire impacts and identify the most effective rehabilitation treatments.

This will be the last Myrtle update unless something significant happens. The information line will remain open and www.inciweb.org will continue to be updated.

Special Prevention Message: Stage II Fire & Smoking Restrictions are in place on the Black Hills National Forest. Fireworks are always prohibited on public lands.
