Current Situation: The Myrtle Fire was 100% contained on 7/24/2012 and continues to be under the command of a local Type 3 Team led by Incident Commander Tim Oliverius.

Significant amounts of precipitation overnight aided crews in mop-up efforts and will help to reach the incident objective of full suppression and perimeter control more quickly. Totals ranging from 0.35" to 1.10" were recorded across the fire. Crews will continue to focus on mop-up and patrol the perimeter of the fire today. Working with the assistance of local landowners fire crews will be rehabilitating control lines and mending fences that were cut during suppression operations. A Burned Area Emergency Response team from the Black Hills National Forest will continue assessments of the fire area to determine the post -wildfire impacts and identify the most effective rehabilitation treatments.
