Current Situation: The Flat Fire is burning on U.S. Forest Service land on the Trinity River Management Unit of the Shasta-Trinity National Forest near the community of Del Loma. The Northern California Interagency Incident Management Team 1 is in command of the fire. The fire has been burning along Highway 299 in the Del Loma area. The highway is open with one-way controlled traffic with a Pilot Car through the fire area. The highway may be closed at times due to fire activity. Crews are protecting structures in the Del Loma area and are improving firelines around the fires perimeter. Last night crews successfully completed lighting low intensity backing fires and have secured the firelines that have been constructed behind the community of Del Loma. Today crews will concentrate their efforts on mopping up around the Del Loma community. Crews will remain on the fire for several more days to complete mop up and insure that all firelines have been secured.
