Incident: Quail Fire Wildfire

Closures: Evacuations have now been lifted in all areas except withinthe perimeter of the fire. The following areas remain closed: Box Elder Peak(the actual peak), trail 046, and portions of trail 044 in the fire area. DryCreek trail 043 is open. The purpose of the closure is to provide for publichealth and safety during fire suppression efforts on the fire.
Residents need to remember that firefighting activities arestill ongoing in this area, including helicopter and water tender operations.Please be cautious when traveling in these areas.
National Park Service TimpanogosCave National Monument:
Timpanogos Cave National Monument is open for cave tours. Thevisitor center and concessions will open at 7:00am with the first hike to thecaves at 7:20am
The free evening program offered at 7:00pm at the visitorcenter will be presented as scheduled. The public is encouraged to contact thevisitor center at 801-756-5238 if they have any questions or to purchasetickets in advance.
STRATEGY: Crews will continue mop up operations and securing fire lines100 feet in along the fire perimeter. A crew will also be working to rehabexisting trails by cutting out fallen snags from the fire. Crews still will bepatrolling the area around the residential areas. Residents can expect firesuppression efforts to continue in the area.
A Burned Area Emergency Response (BAER) team is on the fireto assess and to minimize threats to life or property resulting from theeffects of a fire, and to stabilize and prevent unacceptable degradation tonatural and cultural resources.
