Bear Cub Fire News Release

Bear Cub Fire Update 9-27-12

Incident: Bear Cub Fire Wildfire
Released: 9/27/2012

Due to inactivity and proximity to the North Buffalo Fire, the Bear Cub Fire in the Teton Wilderness of the Bridger-Teton National Forest has been taken over by Incident Commander Jerry Strebel and is currently being managed jointly with the North Buffalo Fire. Local fire managers, a helitack crew, and fire fighters from the Kings Peak Fire Module continue working in the area. Hunters, outfitters, and fall recreationists should be aware that the existing closure for the North Buffalo Fire remains in place. Please be attentive to closure signs and information boards when entering the backcountry, as information posted there is for your safety. Aside from the potential for active fire behavior, other hazards are present in recently burned areas. These may include unstable snags, loose rocks, and potential for rapid erosion of trails. Please use caution when travelling in these areas. The Bear Cub Fire has shown minimal activity though occasional smoke may still be seen in the area. Please visit the Inciweb site for North Buffalo Fire for additional information.
