Firefighters continue to patrol the Egan Fire, burning in and outside the South Egan Range Wilderness nine miles southeast of Lund, Nev., with ground and aviation resources as necessary. The fire remains at 7,238-acres and is now 90-percent contained. Isolated areas of smoke are expected throughout the interior of the burn area, and may be visible to White Pine County residents until the end of July.
Cooperating and assisting agencies include the Bureau of Indian Affairs, the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, Nevada Division of Forestry, and the White Pine County Fire Protection District.
The fire started at about 9:45 a.m., Saturday, June 30. The cause is under investigation.
This will be the final update on the Egan Fire.
