Investigation Completed on Cause of Dahl Fire
Roundup, MT - A four-person interagency team has completed its' investigation into the cause of the Dahl fire and identified the cause as ignition as a result of lightning. The team consisted of members from Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation, Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks, and the Bureau of Land Management. The investigation of the fire's cause was brought about by questions raised by the public at recent community meetings in Roundup.
The investigation occurred on July 1st, five days after the fire started. It included interviews with initial attack firefighters the day the fire started, landowners and residents in the immediate start area, and standard fire investigation techniques of examining physical and biological evidence at the origin area. The team found no evidence to indicate that the fire cause was human-related.
