Uintah Fire Fully Contained, Trail Closure to be Lifted Monday

Incident: Church Camp Wildfire
Released: 7/7/2012

Neola, Utah - Firefighters were successful today in containing the Uintah Fire. Fire crew efforts combined with cooler temperatures and moderate precipitation to accomplish the containment. The fire size remains at approximately 11 acres.

A primary component of the early containment was the prompt response of firefighters and equipment that were available from the Church Camp Fire. As firefighting activities on the Church Camp Fire were reduced, this allowed for a shared support of some resources on the Uinta Fire. The quick response made a big difference in being able to reduce the initial spread of the fire.

Fire personnel will work on clean-up operations tomorrow, removing hose lines, pumps, and supplies. Demobilization of the spike camp at the Uinta Trailhead and the helicopter base will also be completed Sunday.

The Uinta Canyon Trail closure is scheduled to be lifted Monday morning, July 9.
