Church Camp Fire 70 Percent Contained

Duchesne, Utah - The 6,100-acre Church Camp Fire is now 70 percent contained with full containment estimated July 15.
No structures have been destroyed in the last four days and the structure assessment has been completed. One cabin and several outbuildings that burned were discovered yesterday; 15 residences and 78 outbuildings have been destroyed by the fire. Duchesne County Sheriff's Office has begun notification of property owners with destroyed structures.
Today's fire behavior exhibited single and group tree torching, short duration runs and short range spotting.
Burnout operations continued today to reduce fuel in advance of the fire. The locations were strategically selected to provide for the highest probability of success and greatest level of firefighter safety. Selected locations are generally topographic features such as ridgelines, roads, trails, creeks, etc.
The mandatory evacuation for Argyle Canyon and the road closure for Argyle Canyon Road remain in effect. Highway 191 remains open.
Currently there are 515 personnel on the fire comprised of two Type 1 and 13 Type 2 crews, 21 engines, four helicopters, two dozers and eight water tenders.
