Spearfish, SD- Crews again made significant progress on the Crow Peak Fire today.

The fire is estimated at 130 acres and 65% contained.

Today firefighters continued to strengthen and reinforce control lines around the fire. Mop up efforts have begun on the north and east side of the fire.

Firefighter priorities are to provide for firefighter and public safety, protect heritage resources, and keep the fire from advancing to the west. The management strategy for the Crow Peak fire is full containment with aggressive suppression.

Cooler temperatures provided some relief to the fire fighters today but the area is rugged and steep making firefighting efforts challenging.
